Role OverviewThe Substance Use Counselor is an integral member of the clinical team, serving as the primary counselor to a caseload of substance use disorder patients. The role involves managing a caseload, providing individual and group counseling, conducting assessments, and coordinating services. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
What You Will Do
Develops a treatment plan, uses a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, provides clinical consultation, and assists patients with scheduling appointments and accessing treatment.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification
- Minimum One-Two (1-2) years of related experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
- Knowledge and/or training in Trauma Informed Care
- Knowledge of and experience working with persons with co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of the laws regarding personnel and client information
