Substance Use Epidemiologist, Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use

The Substance Use Epidemiologist will work in the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use Prevention, Care, and Treatment (BADUPCT) to close gaps and reduce overall morbidity and mortality related to alcohol and substance use among New Yorkers. The role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions and prevention strategies through data analysis, policy analysis, and community involvement.

What You Will Do

The Substance Use Epidemiologist will conduct analyses of substance use data, create data tables and reports, and present data to internal and external stakeholders. The role also involves creating and revising Powerpoint presentations, data visualizations, and study management documentation.

Requirements

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science
• One year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization
• Three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization
• Proficiency in SAS, R, or other statistical software
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in dashboarding software Tableau or Power BI
• Proficiency in survey platforms RedCap, MS Forms, and/or SurveyMonkey
• Familiarity working with Medicaid or hospitalization medical claims data
• Ability to read, interpret, and synthesize epidemiologic and quantitative data
