Role OverviewThe Substation Electrician is a non-exempt role that constructs, remodels, and maintains substations, vaults, and supporting facilities. The role requires the ability to identify and distinguish between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. The Substation Electrician must be able to pass a Bureau of Motor Carriers physical examination and meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.
What You Will Do
The Substation Electrician performs duties such as constructing new and remodeling existing substations, installing or removing transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, regulators, and similar equipment. The role also involves inspecting, testing, servicing, overhauling, troubleshooting, wiring, and repairing transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, regulators, and similar equipment.

- Complete HECO pole climbing class
- Complete on-the-job training (OJT) within 2 years
