Role Overview

As a Substation Engineer at HDR, you will work with a team of experts to contribute to reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems, helping communities thrive and industries expand. You will be responsible for coordinating the work of the power design team, establishing meetings with governing agencies, and reviewing project documents for code compliance. You will also conduct work sessions at the project site, write and edit project specifications, and provide construction contract administration as needed.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include coordinating workload, conducting work sessions, reviewing project documents, writing and editing project specifications, and providing construction contract administration. You will also be responsible for conducting QA/QC on the work of other engineers, project coordinators, or designers, and performing other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
  • Experience in Substation Engineering, with emphasis in Protection & Controls or Electrical Assembly
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
  • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software
