Role Overview

Substitute Program Leaders work directly with a group of students, acting as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor. They must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach.

What You Will Do

Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity, create an engaging environment, support students in making positive behavior choices, engage children and youth, ensure student safety, promote positive interactions between volunteers and students, and identify student needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, the ability to inspire and motivate, and the ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • Proof of graduation from High School or G.E.D.
  • Ability to speak and write standard English
  • Must be available at least 3 days a week
  • Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting)
  • Provide a clear TB test
  • Pass Advanced Math and English skills (K – 8) testing
