Role Overview

The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision when the regular classroom teacher is absent. The Substitute Teacher follows the lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the teacher while maintaining a safe, respectful, orderly, and faith-centered learning environment consistent with the mission and values of the Catholic school.

What You Will Do

Implement lesson plans, provide instruction and support to students, supervise students, maintain a positive classroom environment, and complete required classroom records or reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College coursework or teaching experience preferred
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
  • Strong communication, classroom-management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow written lesson plans and teacher directions
  • Dependable, flexible, patient, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and school administration
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school
  • Practicing Catholic preferred but not required
  • Must complete required background checks and Safe Environment training in accordance with diocesan policies
