Role Overview

The Superintendent of Recreation is responsible for the administration, supervision, planning, staffing, and operation of the Park District's Recreation Department. This includes the research and development of recreation programs and the operation of Donald H. Schrade Gymnasium and Bartlett Nature Center. The Superintendent reports to the Executive Director and oversees a team of five full-time employees.

What You Will Do

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Superintendent include administering the Recreation Department, supervising staff, preparing and recommending plans, analyzing and evaluating programs and services, and overseeing the Recreation Department budget.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in parks and recreation administration or a related field, a minimum of five years' experience in parks and recreation in a supervisory capacity, and certification as a Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP).

Requirements
