Role OverviewThe Supervisor of Safety provides day-to-day field safety support for Apex Landfill in Amsterdam, Ohio. Reporting to the Market Safety Director, this role works closely with Operations to monitor activities across the working face, tipping areas, haul roads, heavy mobile equipment, rail-served operations, maintenance, contractors, and support functions.
What You Will Do
The Supervisor reinforces IWS safety programs, identifies and corrects hazards, conducts training and investigations, maintains required documentation, and helps ensure safe and compliant landfill operations.

Requirements
- 3-5 years of health and safety or transportation compliance experience
- Experience in solid waste, landfill, construction, mining, or another heavy industrial environment
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA and DOT/FMCSA requirements
- General familiarity with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) and Jefferson County General Health District (JCGHD) requirements
- Experience conducting field observations, safety audits, training, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up
- Practical understanding of heavy equipment and pedestrian interaction, traffic controls, PPE, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and other common landfill hazards
- Good analytical, organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and safety applications
- Ability to work routinely outdoors in an active landfill environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred
