Role Overview

The Ohio Department of Agriculture is seeking a Survey Technician to join the Asian Longhorned Beetle Program. The successful candidate will work with experts to learn about agriculture and contribute to the eradication of the invasive pest. The role involves inspecting trees, assisting Plant Health Inspectors, and maintaining data collection devices.

What You Will Do

The duties of an ALB Survey Technician include inspecting trees for signs of Asian longhorned beetle, assisting Plant Health Inspectors, and completing data entry for tree inspections. The role also involves using proper tools, maintaining state-issued property, and administering tree identification and ALB damage tests.

Requirements

  • 3 months training or 3 months experience in field survey
  • Must be able to provide own transportation
  • OR 1 course or 3 months experience in geometry; 1 course or 3 months experience in trigonometry
  • Must be able to provide own transportation
  • OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment
