Job Description
Role Overview

Teach National YMCA swimming programs to participants of all ages, from Parent-Child to Adult. Gain swimming skills necessary to graduate to the next level of instruction.

What You Will Do

Provide direct teaching leadership, role model SMART pledge, maintain aquatic standards, and assist in supervision of children. Know emergency procedures and communicate child's progress to parents.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Must have passion and intelligence, with a current YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross WSI certification. Must also complete various YMCA courses and training within 30-90 days of hire.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Current YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross WSI certification
  • Professional Rescue CPR or Basic Life Support, AED and First Aid certification
  • Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE
  • Child Abuse Prevention in an Aquatics Environment training
  • Foundations of Listen First, Principles of Youth Development, Engaging with Families, and Youth Affirmations: Distinguishing Between Praise and Encouragement trainings
  • Life Guard certification of YASA preferred
  • Get Smart preferred
  • Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national, and international movement preferred
