Role OverviewThe Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching participants proper stroke and swim technique, teaching safety in and around the water. The Instructor will work with all staff to welcome, connect, support, and engage all members, guests, and staff.
What You Will Do
Teach swim lessons in the water to assigned groups of participants, ensure all equipment and supplies are accessible, maintain skills checklists for each student, and communicate participants' progress.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints, pass lifeguard water tests, and meet ongoing drill requirements. They will also be able to remain alert, sit or stand for extended periods, and communicate verbally.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Red Cross Lifeguarding/YMCA Lifeguarding preferred
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Lesson preferred
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check
