Job Description
The SY27 Teacher (9-12 Eng./LA/DC) is responsible for teaching students in grades 9-12 English, Language Arts, and Drama, and performing related duties as required. The position requires a teacher to provide instructional planning, implement instructional methods, and evaluate pupils' progress. The job also involves establishing and maintaining reasonable rules of conduct, promoting anti-vandalism programs, and encouraging student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and all course work required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Possession of a valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, such as a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position.
  • Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, and knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs, cooperate with the school faculty and administration, work effectively with pupils, parents and guardians, staff members, and community representatives, and understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.
