Role OverviewThe System Development Manager will guide a team of talented engineers to transform the way we develop and integrate controls applications for MHE systems within our global network of advanced warehouses. This position is a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of automation projects right from the start. The ideal candidate will enjoy working at multiple layers of the stack from edge compute solutions and cloud-based solutions to interface with and manage fleets of real-world devices.

The System Development Manager will oversee the entire controls software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering and design to development, testing, and deployment. They will drive the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies within their team, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements
- 3+ years of managing system or software development teams experience
- Experience in agile software development methodology
- Experience coordinating between technical teams, peers and business stakeholders
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent engineering science
- 5+ years of control system working experience in PLC and Soft PLC-based controls design, development, implementation and support
- 5+ years machine control code development experience in IEC 61131-3 languages including structured text and/or ladder-logic
- Experience in industrial fieldbus and protocols: Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, ProfiNET, TCP/IP, MQTT, OPC-UA
- Experience with industrial automation safety design and programming per IEC 61508 or ISO 13849
