Role Overview

The Target Security Specialist role is part of the Assets Protection team, responsible for keeping guests and team members safe and secure. The role involves using intelligence-led tactics, crisis response, and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and secure environment. The Specialist will also use Target's video surveillance system and document cases using case management systems.

What You Will Do

A typical day for a Target Security Specialist will include greeting guests, helping them find what they need, resolving issues, and promoting a physical security culture. The Specialist will also respond to security incidents, accurately document them, and use de-escalation tactics to resolve issues. They will also conduct merchandise theft recoveries and prevent theft and shortage at the front of store.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
  • Effective communication skills
  • Work both independently and with a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
