Job Description
The Small Engine Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of small engines used in outdoor power equipment, such as lawn mowers, chain saws, and snow blowers. The technician advises customers on necessary repairs or maintenance, ensures that the equipment functions according to the manufacturer's specifications, and maintains detailed documentation of the service for both in-shop and virtual interactions.

Requirements

  • Diagnose mechanical problems in small engine equipment (e.g. lawn mowers, chain saws, snow blowers)
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, and carburetor cleanings
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as belts, spark plugs, and fuel systems
  • Provide clear explanations to customers about necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations
  • Document the service work performed and ensure that accurate records are kept for each job
  • Ensure that all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and operates optimally
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and small engine repair methods
