Job Description
The Small Engine Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of small engines used in outdoor power equipment. This position includes diagnosing mechanical problems, performing routine services, and providing support to clients in person or remotely. The technician advises clients on necessary repairs or maintenance, ensures the equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications, and maintains detailed documentation of the service.

Requirements

  • Diagnose mechanical problems in equipment with small engines (e.g. lawn mowers, chain saws, snow blowers)
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, air filter replacements, ignition coil inspections and carburetor cleaning
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as belts, spark plugs and fuel systems
  • Provide clients with clear explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations
  • Document the service work performed and ensure accurate records are kept for each job
  • Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and operates optimally
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety protocols
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and methods for small engine repair
