Job Description
The Small Engine Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing small engines used in outdoor power equipment, such as lawn mowers, chain saws, and snow blowers. The technician advises customers on necessary repairs or maintenance, ensures that the equipment operates in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, and maintains detailed documentation of the service for both in-shop and virtual interactions.

Requirements

  • Diagnose mechanical problems in equipment with small engines
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, and carburetor cleaning
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as belts, spark plugs, and fuel systems
  • Provide customers with clear explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations
  • Document the service work performed and ensure that accurate records are maintained for each job
  • Ensure that all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and operates optimally
