Job Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Teacher 1 to provide instruction in business office education to inmates at Dayton Correctional Institution. The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree or less and meet eligibility requirements for a Teacher Certificate/License.

Requirements

  • Provides instruction in business office education (e.g., typing, general business) and individual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of inmates
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
  • Maintains discipline and/or security
  • Counsels' students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supply and materials needed
  • Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials.
  • Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
