Job Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Teacher 1 (Career-Tech - Building Maintenance) to provide instruction in building maintenance and plumbing trades to inmates at Ross Correctional Institution. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in the plumbing trade or equivalent training/certification and a license to teach Plumbing from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Requirements

  • Provides instruction in basic fundamental of building maintenance (e.g., plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, roofing, and drywall repair) and individual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of inmates
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Maintains discipline and/or security
  • Counsels' students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
  • Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials
  • Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
