Job Description
We are seeking a Teacher 1 to provide instruction in basic carpentry to inmates at Ross Correctional Institution. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or less and a Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - carpentry and grade level as assigned.

Requirements

  • Provides instruction in basic fundamental of carpentry (e.g., types of wood, safety practices, equipment used, related math measurements) and individual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of inmates
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Maintains discipline and/or security
  • Counsels' students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
  • Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials.
