Role OverviewAssists in the instruction of pupils and performs related duties under the supervision of a teacher. Works in a school setting, assisting with student supervision, classroom activities, and administrative tasks.
What You Will Do
Supervises students during lunch and playground activities, assists with classroom assignments, and operates audio-visual equipment. Provides tutoring services, collects and grades homework assignments, and assists with student absences.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Requires good communication skills, knowledge of English grammar and spelling, and basic math skills. Ability to work with school-aged children and follow instructions is essential.
Requirements
- Valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of Education
- 60 semester hours of college credit or successful completion of a paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro)
- Good knowledge of proper English grammar and spelling
- Basic knowledge of mathematics
- Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools rules and regulations
