Role Overview

The Exceptional Student Education Specialist will provide on-site procedural and curricular assistance to all school-based personnel with regard to the education of students with disabilities. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. The Specialist will serve as the principal's designee for all exceptional student education (ESE) staff and coordinate required ESE meetings.

What You Will Do

The Specialist will assist regular education teachers of students with disabilities to implement the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and monitor progress of IEP goals. They will also meet with ESE curriculum supervisors monthly and provide explanations to parents of the Procedural Safeguards.

The ideal candidate will have facilitative behaviors consistent with the Facilitated IEP training provided by the District and be able to communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure that IEPs for students with disabilities are implemented with fidelity.

Requirements

  • Earned bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Florida certification in at least one area of exceptionality
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in Exceptional Student Education
  • Computer skills
