Role OverviewThe Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking Temporary Highway Technician 1s with CDL for the winter season 2026-2027. The successful candidates will work in various counties, including Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby. The positions are temporary, unclassified appointments not to exceed 1,000 hours. The Highway Technician 1s will operate basic equipment, perform general highway maintenance duties, and serve the public to make the roads in Ohio safer.

The successful candidates will operate basic equipment, perform emergency response, clean-up, and traffic control, and perform general facilities maintenance. They will also serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.

Requirements
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and no airbrake restrictions
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, and fractions
- Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary
- 3 months of training or experience in operating basic equipment
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and undergo urinalysis prior to appointment
