Job Description
Role Overview

This is a temporary, unclassified appointment not to exceed 1,000 hours. The Ohio Department of Transportation District 7 is now accepting applications for Winter Seasonal Highway Technicians for the following counties: Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby. The selected candidates will be required to undergo a criminal background check and submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use.

What You Will Do

Operate basic equipment related to snow and ice removal, and roadway maintenance, fleet readiness inspections (pre/post) and washing the Snow and Ice Equipment. Perform emergency response, clean-up, and traffic control. General facilities maintenance. Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, with tanker endorsement, without air brake restriction
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions
  • Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary
  • 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment
