Role Overview

As a vital member of the school's educational leadership team, the school counselor provides comprehensive, developmental supports to ensure students' success in school. The school counselor is a uniquely trained professional educator with a mental health perspective who understands and responds to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population.

What You Will Do

Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) REACH Framework for School Counselors. Conduct annual needs assessments and data reviews to determine and prioritize student needs. Provide individual student planning activities, responsive services, indirect student support, and system support.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in school counseling and a current ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counseling Endorsement. The candidate should be able to provide proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to help all students achieve success in school.
