Job Description
The position of Lead Educator/Interpreter performs moderately complex educational and interpretive services work for the First Capitol of Texas State Historic Site. Responsibilities include overseeing program development, exhibit planning, and support. The position involves researching, writing, and delivering programs related to the site's collections and history. Additional duties include collaborating with other site educators, managing acquisitions and loans, and greeting visitors. The ideal candidate will have a degree in education, history, or a related field and experience in cultural resource interpretation or public programming.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in education, history, museum studies, or a closely related field
  • Minimum two years' work experience in at least two of the following areas: (1) cultural resource interpretation at a historic site, museum, or similar facility; (2) researching, developing, and implementing public interpretive programs or events; (3) researching and writing for publication in a related field
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to drive a state vehicle
