Tolling and Technology Consultant

HDR is seeking a Tolling and Technology Consultant to join its Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation business class, supporting emerging areas of ITS, Lighting, Signalization, and Tolls design for a diverse range of clients. This role is part of HDR's Transportation Business Group, which brings together planners, engineers, architects, and specialists to solve complex mobility challenges. HDR is an employee-owned company.

What You Will Do

Lead the development of technical documents, reports, plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for toll systems and facilities, including all electronic toll collection systems for toll roads, HOT lanes, and multi-type toll plazas. Support field work, assist with design and implementation of toll-related ITS projects, reconcile tolling data across systems and vendors, analyze business processes, and support quality assurance reviews. Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contract administration, and design meetings.

This role requires a minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering, a professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng), and knowledge of state and federal transportation agency regulations. Candidates with experience working with state DOTs or toll/thruway/turnpike authorities, familiarity with toll collection technologies and data management tools like Power BI or Tableau, and involvement in professional organizations like IBTTA or ITS America are preferred. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
• Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
