Job Description
Fieldwork in the Galveston Bay Estuary and nearshore Gulf of America includes fishery-independent sampling using bag seines, trawls, oyster dredges, and longlines as well as potentially other fishery sampling gears. Daily routine often depends on weather and may include work days longer than 8 hours, but will not to exceed 40 hours in a week.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree or higher within the last 6 months.
  • Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.
  • Overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
