Job Description
Under the supervision of the Buescher State Park Site Manager and daily direction of the Lead Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for performing all phases of maintenance and repairs to facilities, equipment and grounds to include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, custodial, and mechanics at Buescher State Park, mainly on historic structures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver’s license
  • Knowledge of work site safety
  • Knowledge of custodial duties
  • Knowledge of standard construction repair and maintenance techniques; mainly on historic structures
  • Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, mechanical, building accessories, and appliance maintenance and repair tasks
  • Knowledge of natural and cultural resource management protection techniques
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Skill in the use, maintenance and repair of hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators and other mechanical equipment
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication
  • Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts
  • Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions
  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities
  • Ability to maintain all types of equipment such as hand tools, power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, trucks, tractors, and other gasoline and diesel-powered equipment
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to produce electronic reports
  • Ability to supervise alternative workforce
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities
  • Ability to perform manual labor such as lifting supplies and materials, up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program
