Job Description
This role is for a Traction Power Technician responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining traction electrification equipment on both the Overhead Contact System and the Sub-Stations. The technician performs maintenance and repairs, utilizes specialized equipment, and ensures safe and efficient operation. This is a highly skilled position requiring close coordination with other departments and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Performs substation fault diagnosis, inspection, testing, modification, maintenance and repair.
  • Performs periodic inspection and routine and emergency maintenance of the overhead contact system.
  • Inspects repairs and maintains electrical and electronic equipment including switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays and programmable logic controllers.
  • Works with AC voltages up to 34.5kV and DC voltages up to 1,000 volts.
  • Prioritizes emergency maintenance tasks in the absence of on-site supervision.
  • Works with staff and vendors to assure adequate spare parts, tools and other necessary equipment is on hand to support revenue operations.
  • Complete vendor training on traction power equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Complies with all safety, operating, and maintenance procedures.
