Job Description
The Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing import related compliance activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations, trade laws, and internal company policies. The role will also lead the administration of Special Programs, including submission, tracking, documentation control, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. import regulations, including CBP, HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and admissibility requirements.
  • Assign and maintain accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications for imported products.
  • Review commercial documents (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) prior to customs entry to confirm accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal audits and assessments related to customs activities, maintaining proper control documentation.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, tariff measures, and participate in relevant compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure correct and timely filing of import entries.
  • Prepare and submit Section 232 IAO requests, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Track all active Section 232 statuses including supplier recovery using internal systems or tracking tools.
  • Communicate status updates, and outcome impacts to internal stakeholders such as Purchasing, Finance, and Logistics.
  • Store and maintain the official documentation for all Section 232 requests, and approvals.
  • Evaluate new opportunities for Section 232 filings based on material usage, import trends, and tariff exposure.
  • Maintain performance metrics and reporting on usage, duty savings, and request cycle times.
  • Analyze duty spend, forecast future exposure, and identify potential cost savings based on program utilization.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and tracking logs for import compliance activities and IAO Section 232 requests.
  • Create regular reports for management on compliance status, duty impacts, and key operational KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to review material changes, sourcing updates, or new parts impacting customs classification or Section 232 eligibility.
  • Support Supply Chain teams to resolve customs holds, entry discrepancies, and import delays.
  • Train internal stakeholders on customs requirements, documentation standards, and Section 232 processes.
  • Free Trade Agreement analysis and calculations.
