Job Description
Iteris is looking for a Traffic Safety Engineer to work on-site at VDOT Salem District in Salem, VA, conducting site visits, drafting speed studies, and providing limited support to other divisions. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and detail-oriented, with a bachelor's degree in engineering and over five years of experience in Traffic Engineering or related field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Systems, Highway Safety or related field
  • Over five (5) years of experience in Traffic Engineering, Highway Safety, or Roadway Design role
  • PE strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of MUTCD and VA Supplement to MUTCD and functional knowledge of Virginia Work Area Protection Manual
  • Knowledge of Highway Safety Manual
  • Ability to use ArcGIS, Microsoft Publisher, Microstation or similar software for crash diagrams and designing countermeasures
  • Ability to perform work safely and follow VDOT safety rules
  • Experience performing safety studies
  • Experience performing traffic engineering studies
  • Ability to work in client facility and act with the highest degree of professionalism representing the firm and client needs
