Role OverviewThe Transit Development unit within NYC DOT's Division of Transportation Planning & Management is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The unit manages the bus-related components of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Bus Action Plan and other transit policy initiatives. Staff will be working under supervision to assist with a variety of projects that further the goals of the NYC Streets Plan and Better Buses.
What You Will Do
Tasks include planning, design, and implementation associated with in-house bus priority projects; conceptual design and design review for capital projects; planning analysis associated with improving bus stops; and coordination with internal and external stakeholders on various transit-related planning efforts.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The selected candidates will also conduct outreach with the general public, work with community boards and other public stakeholders in public workshops, presentations, and other settings, including occasional evening and weekend work.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above
