Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Chicago, IL focused on outdoor electrical, lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) engineering projects in Illinois and other states as needed. The engineer will work with senior engineers and mentor entry level engineers to perform assignments requiring application of standard electrical, lighting, and ITS techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Perform electrical engineering services for design efforts on transportation and aviation projects
  • Perform lighting and electrical studies, calculations, and design
  • Perform ITS studies, calculations, and design
  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
  • Perform client interaction, proposal support, and/or task leadership
  • Develop lighting reports and prepare specifications, special provisions, and cost estimates
  • Organize and conduct site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects
  • Coordinate with civil and structural discipline leads as required to effectively engineer, design, and specify electrical/lighting/ITS systems for projects
  • Coordinate with external agencies, e.g. ComEd, in the design of electrical/lighting/ITS projects
  • Complete assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Respond to contractor requests for information on design documents during construction
