Role OverviewJoin our team in this lead role as a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief and take the lead in guiding a dedicated crew of skilled technicians and equipment operators. In this role, you’ll ensure smooth and efficient transportation maintenance operations while assisting with the administration of the maintenance section. You’ll be crucial in responding to emergency situations, playing a vital part in maintaining our community’s infrastructure.
What You Will Do
Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and organize response of crews. Assists in administration of the maintenance section. Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.

Requirements
- High School Grad or Equivalent in general education
- 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work
- Valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Methods, procedures, equipment, and materials used in intermodal transportation engineering construction and maintenance work
- The Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
- Methods and procedures involving storage & transport of hazardous materials
- Design, testing and quality control of materials used in the construction and maintenance of highways and related structures
- Applicable surveying procedures, standards, and instruments
- Incident management procedures
- Inventory/stock control procedures
- Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
- Maintenance contract inspection procedures
- Operating light and heavy highway equipment
- Performing calculations to include material and labor estimates, expenses, technical survey data and engineering calculations
- Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others
- Coordinating labor, materials, and equipment
- Prioritizing and organizing work assignments
- Interpreting applicable information
- Training in a classroom, office, or field environment
- Using applicable hand and power tools, equipment, and mechanical devices of the trade
- Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others
