Role OverviewThe Transportation Maintenance Tech I/II is responsible for performing moderately complex transportation operations or maintenance support work, including maintenance contract and/or material and process inspections, roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, and helping the public during emergency situations.
What You Will Do
The Transportation Maintenance Tech I performs duties such as assisting in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites, assists stranded motorists as required, and maintains highways and rights-of-way. The Transportation Maintenance Tech II performs additional duties such as operating heavy equipment and performing preventive maintenance inspections.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment, and materials used in intermodal transportation engineering construction and maintenance work, and will be able to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain a safe working relationship, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and bending.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License with an 'N' Endorsement
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and reach
- Ability to hear and see at normal speaking levels
