Role Overview

The Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the state's transportation system by performing roadway maintenance, operating light and heavy equipment, and responding to emergency situations. Employees will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure Texas roadways remain safe and operational for the traveling public.

What You Will Do

Perform routine transportation operations or maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, preventive and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control, and helping the public during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License with an 'N' Endorsement
  • No education required
  • 1 year experience in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience
