Job Description
Role Overview

The New York City Law Department's Labor and Employment Law Division is seeking a qualified person to represent the City in State and Federal Courts, and in some administrative agencies, reviewing and litigating claims on a range of employment issues. The chosen candidate will be assigned to the trial team performing work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility under the supervision of supervisory paralegal staff, attorneys, and/or higher level staff.

What You Will Do

Organizing and indexing exhibits, preparing trial binders, managing document-intensive files, serving as a liaison between the trial team and third parties, assisting in preparing witnesses, and transporting and setting up files and exhibits in the courtroom on the day of the trial.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will possess at least one of the Additional Qualification Requirements for Level 2, including a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, paralegal certification, or a combination of education and experience. Experience in paralegal services must have involved the American Legal System.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
  • Paralegal Certification obtained in the United States from an accredited program or a program approved by the American Bar Association
  • A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above
  • Experience in paralegal (legal assistant) services must have involved the American Legal System
