Role OverviewThis position involves learning preventative maintenance and routine mechanical repairs in a shop environment, as instructed by senior technicians. The role starts at $27 per hour, with increases each quarter. Upon successful completion, the employee would graduate to a Shop Helper position, which is currently $39.71/hr. All tech positions after apprentice level are Union positions, part of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 15C.
What You Will Do
The apprentice technician will learn basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques, troubleshoot and diagnose routine problems, retrieve parts and supplies, complete work orders and time sheets, and provide assistance to senior technicians on larger jobs.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate is dependable, trustworthy, and able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Recent graduates of diesel tech schools are preferred, but not required.
