Upper Elementary Science Teacher

As an Elementary Science Teacher, you will be expected to manage the daily delivery of lessons using a range of culturally-responsive pedagogical strategies to support all students in reaching high-levels of academic and social-emotional growth and achievement. You will be responsible for intellectually preparing and internalizing our shared curriculum, creating thoughtful and engaging unit and lesson plans, administering and grading assessments, and analyzing and acting on data. You will also be expected to foster an environment built on restorative practices, collaborate with colleagues across content areas and grade levels, and attend and actively participate in all meetings.

What You Will Do

Deliver lessons using a range of culturally-responsive pedagogical strategies, administer and grade assessments, keep accurate and organized records of student information, use Responsive Classroom approach to cultivate a positive classroom culture, foster an environment built on restorative practices, collaborate with colleagues, and attend meetings.

Requirements

• Elementary science content and pedagogical knowledge
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Adaptable to teach across multiple grades simultaneously
• Classroom teaching experience required; 2 years preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required
• New York State Teaching Certification, preferred
• Master’s Degree in Education, preferred
