Role OverviewThe Utility Heavy Equipment Operator and Excavator is semi-skilled in the construction, and repair of underground distribution systems. The position is based out of Columbia, SC, and travel is required. The role involves working with heavy equipment, performing excavations, and adhering to safety rules and company policies.
What You Will Do
Perform excavations of dirt, rock, concrete, and other materials using hand tools and power equipment. Safely work new construction, maintenance, and repair of de-energized underground distribution systems. Proficient operation of heavy equipment – Dump truck, backhoe, trenchers, and mini-excavators.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have advanced ability to read and understand blueprints, work orders, instructions, and procedures. They will also possess working knowledge of the Internet, email, iPad, use of company radio and industry-related programs. Self-motivation, organization, and prioritization management are also required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical degree, 2-4 years’ field experience, extensive mechanical ability, or a combination of education and/or experience
- OSHA certifications
- CDL A (preferred) or the ability to obtain
