Role Overview

The Public Utilities Commissions of Ohio (PUCO) employs a professional staff to regulate providers of utility services, ensuring safe and reliable services for Ohioans. The Utility Specialist 3 role is part of the Rates & Analysis Department, which participates in federal and state programs, monitors utility conformance, and processes rate change requests. The department is comprised of accounting and finance, grid modernization, and regulatory utility services divisions.

What You Will Do

As a Utility Specialist 3, responsibilities include serving as a subject-matter expert in public utility rates, providing training to lower-level staff, supporting rate case investigations, drafting staff reports, and presenting testimony in hearings.

Requirements

  • Graduate core program or 3 yrs. exp. in one or more of the following fields: accounting, code enforcement, finance, business administration, public administration, utility &/or transportation code of enforcement, geology, management, law, economics, mathematics or engineering
  • 5 yrs. utility or transportation regulatory experience involving combination of PUCO operations, programs & policies affecting regulation of utility or transportation companies, state & federal laws, regulations & procedures governing utility or transportation company operations
  • 36 mos. exp. as Utility Specialist 2, 66952
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment
