Job Description
The Veterans Affairs School Certification Official is responsible for ensuring South University's compliance with VA rules and regulations, advising students on applying for VA benefits, and supporting recruitment and retention initiatives for military-connected students.

Requirements

  • Prior Military experience required with a minimum of 3 years of service (honorable discharge required)
  • Associate degree required
  • Prior experience as a VA School Certifying Official preferred
  • Previous experience working with people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in MS Office and database usage
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines
  • Ability to effectively present relevant information and respond to inquiries from students and team members.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Ability to listen to students and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
