Role OverviewThe Water Use Inspector will perform work in the field and/or office, reading, inspecting, testing, making repairs, and replacing water meters and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) equipment. The selected candidate will serve notices to repair recently installed and unapproved defective water meters, conduct inspections to ensure conformance to codes, standards, plans, or specifications relating to the metering, sale, and use of City water, and report leaks and waste of water.
What You Will Do
The Water Use Inspector will inspect, test, repair, replace, and install water meters and associated conditions, read water meters and remote reading devices, enter readings and appropriate condition codes into a portable computer and/or appropriate forms, and test meter reads indoors to ensure that water consumption is registered on the meters.

Requirements
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- Six months of full-time satisfactory experience in plumbing, electrical or solar installation, construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, building maintenance, or as a pipe fitter or steam fitter
- Installation, assembly, or repair of water-use meters
- The inspection, reading, and recording of data from electronic/analogue meters and/or measuring devices in a field application to track consumption, mileage, time, distance, water, gas, or electrical data
