Welder

The purpose of this position is to use hand-welding equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. The employee will work to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers' expectations. The employee will follow documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers' needs.

What You Will Do

The employee will weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, complete electrical circuits, and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The employee will examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications, and maintain a clean working environment free of debris and flammable materials.

Requirements

• Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Communicating with Supervisors and Peers: Providing information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.
• Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
• Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Handling and Moving Objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating materials.
• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• Safety and Security; Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.
• Controlling Machines and Processes: Using direct physical activity to operate welders.
• Tools: Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, welding mask, welding clothing, etc.), blow torches, gas welding or brazing or cutting apparatus, welders, welding tools, tape measure, square, protractor, grinders and drills.
