Job Description
The NYC Parks department is seeking a Wetland Scientist to support the protection, restoration, and management of natural areas across the five boroughs. This role involves ecological monitoring, wetland delineation, permit applications, and collaborating with stakeholders. The department has 30,000 acres of land, 600,000 street trees, and 12,000 acres of natural spaces.

Requirements

  • Coordinate and lead ecological and environmental monitoring.
  • Supervise staff assisting with monitoring, site assessment, and data collection.
  • Conduct wetland delineations to inform restoration and protection.
  • Support development of permit applications for ecological restoration and stormwater management.
  • Identify opportunities for water management and capital restoration.
  • Prepare maps, technical reports, and presentations for audiences.
