Job Description
Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Wind Project Engineer to mark, position, and secure structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures at a Carpenter Wind Project site in Remington, Indiana. This is an essential position in the Renewable Energy Group, focusing on installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork, overseeing crane assembly, and ensuring all safety regulations are followed. The company is focused on environmentally sustainable projects.

Requirements

  • Setting up, flagging, and inspecting a crane
  • Inspecting rigging properly
  • Running a site level
  • Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
  • Using pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
  • Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
  • Understanding building codes/requirements
  • Cutting excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
  • Installing mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together
  • Installing caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety
  • Installing rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
  • Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
  • Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
  • Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh
  • Ornamental Ironworker
