Role Overview

The Wound Care Nurse serves as a clinical expert for wound prevention, assessment, treatment, and skin integrity management. This role works collaboratively with nursing, rehabilitation, medical staff, nutrition services, infection prevention, and patient families to promote healing, prevent complications, and improve quality outcomes related to pressure injuries, surgical wounds, gastrostomy sites, tracheostomy sites, and other complex pediatric wounds.

What You Will Do

Performs comprehensive skin and wound assessments for all patients requiring consultation, develops individualized evidence-based treatment plans and recommendations, leads pressure injury prevention initiatives, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, provides consultation and education to nursing staff, coordinates the organization's wound care program, and monitors wound care outcomes and quality metrics.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of RN or LPN experience
  • Registration and current RN license in Oklahoma
  • CPR and PALS Certification
  • Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, CWON, CWOCN, WOCN or equivalent) preferred
