Youth Development Specialist

The Youth Development Specialist will work with youth in a residential setting, providing support and guidance to help them develop pro-social skills and achieve academic and vocational goals. The role involves facilitating activities, mentoring, and guiding youth, as well as addressing conflicts and providing crisis intervention. The Specialist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop individualized and group treatment plans and support for academic achievement. The goal is to help youth access the tools they need to leave the justice system for good.

What You Will Do

The Youth Development Specialist will perform a variety of duties, including facilitating youth activities, mentoring and guiding youth, addressing conflicts, and providing crisis intervention. The Specialist will also work with youth to provide gang remediation activities and anti-bullying and violence reduction interventions. Additionally, the Specialist will develop individualized and group treatment plans and support for academic achievement.

Requirements

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
• One year of full-time satisfactory experience working directly with juveniles or young adults (ages 10-24) in juvenile detention, education, vocational rehabilitation, or closely related activities
• An associate degree from an accredited college or completion of 60 semester credits of study at an accredited college, including or supplemented by six months of full-time satisfactory experience as described above
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
• A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above
